Remnants of a Supernova (2020)

Acrylic on canvas, 40x30cm.
Based off the supernova remnant Cassiopeia A, which had temperatures in excess of 10 million degrees C! Three telescopes – Hubble, Spitzer and Chandra – were used to create a composite image depicting all the matter at wildly different temperatures, in beautiful distinct colours.
Cassiopeia A is also the brightest extrasolar radio source at frequencies above 1Gz, and occurs about 11 thousand light years away within our Milky Way.
